Weight is a struggle for everybody at some point in his life. In some cases, weight gain (or weight problems) can be the result of hormone issues and other health problems that keep a body from properly burning fat. Sometimes it is just something that people need to work on.

If you have struggled with your weight for a while it is highly likely that you have tried a number of the fad diets that are on the market right now. How successful have these diets been for you? Probably not very. The fact is that weight loss involves more work than is required for most of the popular fad diets that are out there.healthy weight loss with effective weight loss tips

Here are some of the weight loss tips that fad diet authors don’t want to share.

Don’t drink anything but water. You might not be ready to believe this, but the best way to cut down on your calorie count each day is to simply cut out all of the juices, sodas, energy drinks, booze and other non-water drinks you consume. Cold water is the best to drink. Water does not have any calories.

It helps you stay hydrated and contributes to your health. It all depends on the type of soda you drink but cutting out even two servings of the stuff can reduce your caloric intake by around two hundred calories. In addition to cutting down on your calorie intake, replacing these other drinks with water helps you cut down on things like sugar, high fructose corn syrup and other nefarious ingredients that do nothing for your health.

Always remember that no diet is going to be successful without accompanying it with an exercise routine. You could cut your caloric intake down to just a few hundred calories each day (which is not something that we would recommend you try) and if you aren’t exercising you still won’t lose any weight. Even something as simple as going for a walk every day can help you with your weight loss routine. Exercise increases muscle tone, energy level and focus on the overall weight loss goals you have.

Keep a simple food journal. This probably seems like a lot of work but it can be a big help.

A food journal is not kept because you want to track every single calorie that goes into your mouth (though that could be helpful later on when you need to plan out your exercise routine for the day). Keeping a food journal can also help you track your cravings and the types of tastes you gravitate toward. You don’t need to buy an expensive journal, just an inexpensive spiral notebook will do.

The key to a successful diet is to find a way to replace the junkie tastes you love so much with healthier alternatives. For example: eating actual strawberries instead of strawberry flavored candy or ice cream. Keeping a food journal helps you do this, which means you have a better chance of losing weight and finding success with your diet.

Almost every woman and man on earth has wanted to lose weight. The more you know about the best ways to safely lose weight the more successful you will be. Try the hints in this article! They could really help you lose weight!

Can African Mango Help With Weight Loss and What Is African Mango

Have you heard about the African Mango?

Maybe you have seen African Mango talked about in a magazine or have read about it in a weight loss forum, or maybe saw an add for the African mango diet , African mango or African mango extract but do you know anything about it?

What is African Mango, and why is everyone talking about it?

To start with, the African Mango is a fruit grown in the rain forests of Africa. It is very similar in size, looks and tastes as the mangoes we are used to picking up at the supermarket, that often come from Hawaii or other tropical climates.

But what makes the African Mango different from other Mangoes?

The African Mango has been studied for over 20 years, yet it has only recently been recognized as a weight loss supplement. This fruit has been studied as much as ephedrrine, fen phen and several other over the counter and prescription weight loss products. Yet for the most part, this fruit/supplement has been largely ignored…until now.

This amazing fruit can help to burn fat, suppress the appetite, can give you more energy, may control the body’s production of the hormone leptin, and lower cholesterol all while remaining stimulant free.

What is African Mango?
It could be the best old/new discovery around for aiding in weight loss and the illnesses that are associated with obesity.

Maybe it is been largely ignored by the medical community because it is not as highly profitable as some of the other prescription medications that are used to fight high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity. It is something to think about.

The African Mango is only one of the few supplements that has been found to help control the hormone leptin.
Leptin is a hormone that the body naturally helps to control the appetite. Those suffering from obesity have become resistant to leptin due in part to the high levels of C-reactive protein (CPR).
The CPR can bind to leptin and lessen the effectiveness of its appetite control properties. It appears that the African Mango may  lower the levels of CPR in the body so that the leptin can do what it was design for – control the appetite.

Normally using the supplement requires two doses per day of 150 mg to help bring weight loss results, but it does depend on the particular brand that you may try ( always read the label thoroughly).
In research studies, it has been shown to average a weight loss of 3 pounds per week without changing the subjects diet or exercise routines. (Now remember that this was in a research study, where there is no cheating going on and everything is strictly monitored and that everyone’s results will vary and like with all products if you just let it sit in the box, as most will there is no chance that you would see any results).  Add some healthier eating choices and 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 times per week and you could enjoy even better results.

When asking, “What is African Mango?”, be sure to check out what is available for purchase and decide what formula is best for you. Always look for the words “pure African Mango.”

In conclusion, what is African Mango? It is a weight loss supplement that is worth your time and energy to explore.
If it can help you regain your health and lose some weight, then you will be off to a great start in your weight loss quest.

Be sure to talk to your doctor if you are currently taking medication (even if you are not on any medications it is always a good idea to check with your doctor before taking any over the counter supplement, starting a new diet or new fitness plan).
While the African Mango has no known side effects and it is not known to interfere with any medication, it is still prudent to make your doctor aware of this and any other natural supplements you are taking.

Weight Loss Boot Camp – Is One Right For You

Comments Off on Weight Loss Boot Camp – Is One Right For You

Weight Loss Boot camps – you’ve seen them all over your television and read about them in celebrity magazines.
However, is a weight loss boot camp right for you? Do you really need to attend one (yes, they can be very expensive) ?
Can’t you just take their methods and ideas and do it all yourself?

With the success of various weight loss entertainment programs, a lot of people are starting to believe that they need to attend a weight loss boot camp. This is simply not true. Unless there is a medical reason why you cannot lose weight, a calorie controlled diet and an exercise program will make you lose weight.

Don’t think about being on a diet. Instead say to yourself that you are following a healthy eating program. Your mindset is probably the most important factor when determining your chances of losing weight. If you believe you will do it, the weight will come off. If you have doubts, you might as well give up now.

Start by educating yourself as to what foods you should be eating more of and the foods that should be consumed on special occasions only. We all know that eating crisps, chips, cakes and biscuits are not going to help us lose weight. But did you know that you actually should be eating more fat in your diet.

What?  You want to lose weight and I tell you to eat more fat. Well it is true, you should be increasing the amount of Omega 3 and 6 in your diet. Good sources are oily fish, nuts and pumpkin seeds. You need these fats to provide vital vitamins and minerals in your system but also to stop you becoming depressed.

Weight loss boot camps are not the answer to your long term weight loss. Education and exercise are the way forward. Knowing what you can eat and when will help resolve your weight problems. A good habit to get into is not to eat any starchy carbohydrates after 5pm.

I am not suggesting you never eat foods from the carbohydrate group – any diet that prohibits a complete food group is not a healthy eating plan and should be avoided. But it is a good idea not to eat bread, pasta or potatoes in the evening until you reach your weight loss goal and then only occasionally.

Excess calories produced by carbohydrates are stored as fat and as you generally sleep at night; you don’t get the chance to burn off the excess. You will not go hungry as you can fill up on lean meat, vegetables and fruit. You should notice less bloating and increased levels of energy by following this one simple tip.

Drink more water. Most people do not drink sufficient water and often interpret thirst for hunger. If you have recently eaten and still feel “hungry”, try drinking some water. You should aim to drink at least 2 litres of water a day. It will help your energy levels as well as your diet.

Losing weight isn’t rocket science ( and yes, I do know that although it’s simple – it is very hard to do- if it was easy we would all be slim and trim). Follow the above tips, buy a decent diet book and learn to cook your own food from fresh every day.
Soon your weight issues will be a thing of the past and you will not be considering weight loss boot camps (and you’ll save tons of money and also learn how to keep excess weight off in the real world).

Comments Off on Weight Loss After Your Pregnancy

Many women find that losing their pregnancy weight is the hardest weight to lose.
Not so much that it is a different type of weight gain but after you give birth you body is in a weakened condition for a while and you are not suppose to exercise at full force until your doctor has given you the ok. Plus if you are breastfeeding you need to keep your nutrition and calories high enough to product good quality milk for your baby.

When you are pregnant you normally will gain on average approximately 25 to 30 pounds. When the baby is born, however you may find yourself needing to lose about 25 to 30 pounds of excess weight shortly after giving birth.

If you eat as close to natural as much as you possibly can is one of the best ways that you can lose weight after your pregnancy and be able to keep it off. To put it simply you will see better results for a longer period of time when you are steering clear of the processed foods and focus on making wise and healthy food choices.

1. Fruits:
Any type of fruit whether its natural or canned ( with no added sugar) are great for helping you shed extra weight. The fruits are low in sodium and therefore they are also good for reducing your risks of heart disease as well as high blood pressure. The canned or frozen fruit are a great choice because you will not have to eat them right away as you would with the fresh fruit. They are just as nutritious and good for you.

2. Vegetables:
Vegetables will also help reduce the chances of high cholesterol and blood pressure. They also help destroy cancer causing radicals and are full of fiber. They can be eaten fresh, canned or frozen because they are packaged to seal in the much needed vitamins and minerals. You can lose some of the vital nutrients however so you will need to be careful how you cook them.

3. Breastfeeding:
Breastfeeding may actually aid in your weight loss. This is because breastfeeding releases certain hormones into your body that will help your uterus contract and return to its pre-pregnancy size and shape faster than a woman who does not breastfeed. Sometimes however, you will not lose the excess weight till after you have stopped breast feeding because you will need to take in extra calories.

4. Water:
This is an important part for losing weight because it will increase your metabolism and help stop your food cravings. If you are already eating plenty of fruits and vegetables you are also consuming a lot of water as well. It is still good for you to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day though.

5. Exercise:
This will help aid in your postpartum weight loss and help you to minimize your postpartum depression. Along with the exercise you should also eat a healthy diet that is low in fat but full of vitamins and minerals and also is high in fiber. You should exercise 30 minutes a day five days a week to see an appropriate weight loss.

These are all great tips for you to use when you are trying to lose your pregnancy weight. You need to be sure to begin in moderation though so that your body can acclimate to the change in your routine.

Remember to always keep in close touch with your doctor before and during a diet or exercise plan after you have given birth. This is especially true if you are breast feeding.

More Holistic Weight Loss Strategies

Holistic  Weight Loss Strategies

With the extensive and long  history of dieting, countless weight loss strategies have come into existence and have also fallen out of favor. Not all of them have acquired the fame of popular diet programs such as the South Beach diet and Atkins diet have achieved. Nevertheless, it’s still interesting to know these less popular dieting methods and what may surprise you if the fact that once these were considered “way out there” but are now mainstream.

These unconventional weight loss methods may be right for you. Just be sure to discuss any treatments with your doctor or health care professional.

Hypnosis For Weight Loss

This is one of the last methods for weight loss that would cross your mind, but yes, there are actually weight loss hypnosis therapies available and they do offer help to many people.  Since not everyone is able to be hypnotized be sure that you can try just 1 session to see if it works for you. And no -don’t worry your hypnotist won’t have you walking around clucking like a chicken.

With this kind of program, you can visit hypnotist who can administer the proper procedure. You are placed into a state of mind in which you are able to control your food cravings and suppress your appetite. Hence, you wouldn’t fall into the pitfalls of overeating and can finally cut down your calorie intake. This then leads to weight loss.

Because of the mystique stigma attached to hypnotism most people laugh at the mention of this kind of dieting method – but if you read up on it you will find that it is one of the long lasting safer, weight loss methods.

Subliminal Messages

Just like hypnosis, subliminal messaging is used in weight loss. Subliminal messages have been an issue for a long time. There are still institutions that believe the human mind is capable of receiving subliminal messages that are embedded on various kinds of media.

For instance, you can listen to an audio tape or music that subliminally tells you to control your appetite and not eat fatty foods. The messages that you want to get can vary depending on your need. There are companies that actually render this kind of service. All you’d have to do is tell them what you want to achieve and they can embed a subliminal message to your favorite band’s music!

This is one good way of getting motivation, especially if you lack it, so you can exercise on a regular basis; thus, leading to weight loss. Before purchasing any of these subliminal tapes and recording just make sure that they have a money back guarantee as some are very legitimate and some are just crap. If they do not have a return policy – do not purchase.

Acupuncture Therapy

Another alternative method is acupuncture therapy. According to traditional Chinese medicine, people tend to have excess weight because of an imbalance within their system. This imbalance is generally caused by malfunctions of your spleen and liver.

With acupuncture, certain pressure points on your body would be targeted to bring back the normal function of your liver and spleen. The therapy would target the well-being of your endocrine system, which can leave you with a happy disposition.
Acupuncture therapy is growing in it’s popularity and there are several insurance companies that will help cover the cost – check out your health plan.

Massage Therapy And Weight Loss

Another alternative when dieting would be massage therapy. Believers in this kind of method claims that getting a massage can actually help in weight loss due to various reasons. Since massage can enhance one’s blood circulation, it is thought that it can increase a person’s metabolic rate. This increase in metabolism can definitely expend the stock energy inside the body and leads to weight loss.

It improves the strength of your muscles, which makes them more fit when exercising. You should understand that getting a massage is only considered to be a support for weight loss and not really a main activity for shedding weight. The massage does help you relax and sometimes you eat less “comfort type foods” when you are less stressed so it may help, but don’t expect miracles.

Tasty and Filling Low Calorie Snack Foods for Weight Loss

Tasty & Filling Low Calorie Snack Foods for Weight Loss

Tired of always being hungry while your on a diet?  With so many tasty food choices there is no need to feel deprived.

One of the most challenging aspects of weight loss is hunger.  Since most diets require reducing your caloric intake, you may end up feeling hungry and dissatisfied for at least part of the day.  So What’s a dieter to do?

Low calorie snack foods that taste great but won’t hold back your weight loss.

Here are some great choices:

Fruit

Fruit is a great snack option because it can help satisfy a sweet tooth, but also contains fiber and antioxidants.  Some of the lowest calorie fruits are: grapefruit, watermelon, peaches, berries like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, apples, honeydew melon, and cantaloupe.

If you don’t want to eat fruit “as is” you can spruce it up in a number of ways, like making a dip out of lowfat cottage cheese, or whipping it into a smoothie with some yogurt.  You could even bake apples in the oven and sprinkle them with cinnamon, nutmeg, and top with a few chopped nuts.

Raw veggies

Vegetables are very filling because of their high fiber content, but also low in calories.  Eating vegetables raw provides a satisfying “crunch” that can easily replace fattening snacks like potato chips.

Try snacking on raw peppers (sweet or spicy), grape tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, radishes, and carrots.  If you don’t want to eat the vegetables plain, salsa makes a great low calorie dip, as well as hommus (ground chickpeas), or a ready made low calorie dip from the supermarket.

Chicken and veggie “wrap”

One of my favorite snacks (or even for a meal) is to cube lean cooked chicken breast, chop up some raw veggies into small pieces, wrap them in a large lettuce leaf and drizzle with light salad dressing (or you could top it with salsa too).

Very low calorie, delicious, and contains a good amount of protein and fiber to keep you feeling satisfied for awhile.

If you don’t care for chicken, try it with cooked salmon, shrimp, turkey, or tofu.  Experiment with different varieties of vegetables and toppings too – no need to stick with the same old thing each day.

There are truly endless low calorie snack foods that will help you stay on track with your weight loss plan – just think about foods you enjoy eating that are low in calories, fat and refined carbohydrates, and come up with creative ways to combine them into a tasty snack.

Want Fast Weight Loss? Here Are 7 Simple Tips For Quicker Fat Loss

July 18, 2010 by

One of the most popular searched terms on the internet is Fast Weight Loss. There is no denying that we all want to lose weight fast just like we want our meals cooked fast and our exercise programs to be finished fast.

However, fast weight loss isn’t always the best way to go, simply because some of the methods used for fast weight loss are unhealthy or difficult to keep doing for a long enough period of time. You want methods that you can stick with so that you don’t lose the weight quickly then regain it just as quickly.

However, there are a few key things that are known to help speed up weight loss without harming your health ( as a matter of fact they are good for you ) and these you can do long term to keep the weight from coming back on.

1) Water is your best friend and You’ve heard that Over and Over Again
So why aren’t you listening? Drinking plenty of water is an excellent way to help your body burn more fat, as well as release excess water you may have been retaining.  Experts recommend a minimum of 64 ounces of water daily, but even more than that is safe to drink as long as you don’t overdo it. You should sip all during the day and not guzzle it all at one time.  You will also find that by drinking more water your skin will look clearer and better and you’re less apt to get wrinkles before your time. Avoid water and you’ll look older than you should.

2) Sugar is NOT your friend in Fact It’s Your Enemy
Refined white cane sugar has a detrimental effect on the body, namely because of the way it sharply elevates blood glucose levels.  This causes your pancreas to secrete insulin to bring blood glucose back to normal levels, and too much of this up-and-down fluctuation can wreak havoc on your body.

For losing weight quickly, there are few actions more powerful than eliminating white refined sugar (and its cousin, high fructose corn syrup) from your diet.  If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll find that fruit is a great alternative, and so is low-glycemic agave nectar.  Sugar filled drinks can also pack on the pounds quickly and the more sugar you have the more you will want. It’s a vicious circle.

You don’t necessarily have to give up sweets completely – just choose healthier options to satisfy your sweet tooth.

3) Sodium (salt) makes you retain water and can add to high blood pressure
Reducing your sodium intake is another way to help speed up weight loss, simply because eating high amounts of sodium makes most people retain excess water weight.  Not to mention that a diet high in sodium can contribute to hypertension (high blood pressure). If you read package labels you will find added salt and sugar in almost everything that is processed.

4) Starvation or having under 1,000 calories per day is not just bad it’s awful
People often think that reducing their caloric intake down to almost nothing is a great way to lose weight quickly, but all it does is kick their bodies into self-preservation mode and slow down their metabolism.

A much better approach is to eat lean, low-calorie foods frequently throughout the day.  This keeps your metabolism running strong, burning fat and losing weight.  Not to mention you’ll have more energy and feel more satisfied all day long.  Also including a moderate amount of heart-healthy fats (like those found in olive oil and avacados) can keep you from feeling hungry.

5) Burning more calories by moving & exercising
Cardio and weight training exercises are known for their calorie-burning power, and effective weight loss plans will focus on creating a “calorie deficit”.  To lose one pound, you need to either reduce your calorie intake by 3500 calories, or burn off 3500 calories with exercise.  Doing a combination of both has been proven to be most effective; for example reducing your daily caloric intake, AND burning calories via cardio exercise.

So, if you reduced your calories by 250 daily (1750 weekly), and burned off 250 calories daily (1750 weekly), you would lose 1 pound that week. If you find that you are not healthy enough for heavy exercise or you don’t have the time just try to keep your body moving. Keep your cell phone & TV remote in another room – so that you have to get up and move. Try to walk or run in place during tv commercials or during your favorite song. The more you move the more you’ll want to move since you’ll feel and look so much better.

Keep in mind that other factors can come into play so some weeks you may lose more and other weeks you may lose less.

6) Fiber keep moving toxic waste out of your system
Increasing your fiber intake is another good way to speed weight loss, for a few reasons.  First, eating high-fiber foods helps you feel fuller longer so you aren’t tempted to overeat.  Fiber is also helpful in slowing the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream, which reduces the impact of high-glycemic foods and minimizes fluctuations in blood glucose levels.  Finally, a fiber rich diet helps “keep things moving” in your digestive tract so you clean your colon and eliminate waste more easily. When you burn calorie you product carbon waste and fiber and water help to remove this from your system. If you don’t and your cells are filled with carbon it will slow down your fat burning furnace.

7) Try to Reduce stress
Last but not least, managing your stress better can help you lose weight more quickly.  The hormone cortisol is prevalent in the stressed-out body, and cortisol contributes to the accumulation of belly fat.  It’s virtually impossible to lead a completely stress-free life, but there are endless ways to better manage your stress so it doesn’t wreak havoc on your body.  Try meditating daily for 10-15 minutes, deep breathing exercises, or a soothing exercise like yoga.

Pilates, which also can help you burn calories and firm and shape your muscles can also help reduce stress so it’s a great addition to your weight loss efforts.
Just follow the simple tips above (add more if you can) and you’ll see fast weight loss.
